In the first article in this series I described five dimensions of a software project: features, quality, schedule, staff, and cost. There are companies that recognize this fact that offer project management software for business applications. A key aspect is assuring that quality meets the highest standards. Each axis represents how much flexibility the project manager has in the corresponding dimension, so I call these pictures “flexibility diagrams.” I use a relative scale from zero to ten for flexibility. Having the communication structured and organized is the first step to effective project management. Software development is a complex process.
